Craft and Rhythm Activity
Make a Drum and Play It!
Materials: oatmeal carton, large can, or medium box, markers (optional)
Materials: oatmeal carton, large can, or medium box, markers (optional)
Your child will stimulate their imagination and express their feelings with this drum activity.
First, find an empty oatmeal container, large can, or medium box that can be used as a drum.
Then, your child can decorate the drum with markers if they like or leave it as is.
Now it’s time to drum! Tell your child:
Drum like an elephant walking.
Drum like a lion running.
Drum like you’re happy/mad/sad/surprised.
For a fun drumming challenge, tap out a rhythm pattern. Can your child copy it? Then let your child challenge you with their own rhythm.
