Observe, Draw, and Write Activity
Kids and Adults
Materials: paper for writing and drawing, pencil, markers, tape or stapler

This activity will let your child practice observation, drawing, and writing as they discover ways that kids and adults are the same but are also different.
Remind your child that animal babies look like their parents in some ways and look different in others. Ask them: What about you and an adult like me?
Stand in front of a mirror next to your child (or use photos to compare).
Now hand your child an empty plate. Challenge them to arrange a rainbow of colors on the plate! You could say that nutritionists tell us to eat the rainbow. Vegetables and fruits of different colors keep our bodies healthy.
Ask your child:
What are three ways that you are the same as me?
What are three ways that you are different from me?
On a piece of paper, can you draw a picture of you standing next to me?
On another piece of paper, can you write three sentences about ways you are the same?
Then write three sentences about ways you are different!
Tape or staple the sentences under the picture and display.
