A Valentine’s Bouquet
Materials: coffee filters, markers, spray bottle, toilet paper roll

Your child will love making “flowers” for this Valentine’s Day craftivity! It helps build social-emotional and fine-motor skills.
Start by having your child color coffee filters with markers. Then have them spray the coffee filters with water so the colors run together. (If you don’t have a spray bottle, they can flick or drip water on the coffee filters until the colors run.) Let the coffee filters dry. Then help your child create a “bloom” by using a finger to push the center down and twisting underneath.
Next, have your child color the toilet paper roll green to make the stem. They can also paint it if they’d like.
When the stem is dry, put 1 or 2 of the colorful coffee filters in the top of the toilet paper roll. Arrange so the “flowers” are popping out. Voilà! They have a lovely bouquet.
Ask your child which person they would like to give the flowers to as a Valentine’s Day gift. Why did they choose that person? What do they love about the person? Do they like how they play? Are they kind? Write down what your child says, and give the flower and note as a Valentine’s Day gift!

A tu niño o niña le encantará hacer flores para el Día de San Valentín en esta actividad de manualidades. También sirve para desarrollar las destrezas socioemocionales y motoras finas.
Para comenzar, haz que tu niño coloree los filtros de café con marcadores. Luego, pueden rociar los filtros de café con agua para que los colores se extiendan. (Si no tienen una botella para rociar, pueden salpicar o echar algunas gotas de agua en los filtros de café hasta que los colores corran). Dejen que los filtros de café se sequen. Entonces, para ayudar a tu niño a crear una “flor”, presiona el centro del filtro con tu dedo y dale vuelta por la parte de abajo.
A continuación, haz que tu niño coloree el papel higiénico de verde para que parezca el tallo. También puede pintarlo si quiere.
Cuando el tallo se seque, coloca uno o dos filtros de café sobre el rollo de papel higiénico de manera que las “flores” se vean abultadas. ¡Listo! Ya tienen un lindo buqué.
