Kitchen Activity

Make Snow!

Materials: mixing bowl, 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup shaving cream, small toys

Your child will enjoy this experience with sensory play and making observations as you create “snow” from baking soda and shaving cream.

Tell your child that you will be making pretend snow. Let them know that it will be different from real snow.

Talk about what real snow is like. What does it look like? What does it feel like? What happens when you bring it to a warm place?

Now it’s time to make the snow!

  • Pour the baking soda into the mixing bowl.

  • Let your child feel it. What does it feel like?

  • Add the shaving cream a little at a time. Let your child mix it with their hands.

  • “Snow” should begin to form. It is ready when you can form a “snowball,” but it can still crumble, and your hands are dry when you take them out of the bowl.

  • When it is finished, add some peg people and other small toys for your child to imagine their own winter scene!

Actividad en la cocina

¡Haz nieve!
