Fine Motor Activity
Make Snow Tracks
Materials: salt or baking soda, baking tray with lip, paper, marker

Help your child build their fine motor skills with this winter-themed activity.
On different pieces of paper, use a marker draw a variety of lines — straight ones, wavy ones, loopy ones, zigzags, etc. Then pour a layer of salt or baking soda to completely cover the bottom of the baking tray. (You can also use any kind of long, shallow tray or box.) Remind your child that we go from left to right when we write, and then demonstrate it. Place one of the line drawings next to the tray. Have your child drag their finger through the “snow” in the same type of line that’s shown on the paper. They can practice making letters in the “snow” too!

En diferentes pedazos de papel, dibuja con un marcador varios tipos de líneas; rectas, onduladas, en rizos, en zigzag, etc. Entonces cubre el fondo de la bandeja para hornear con una capa de sal o bicarbonato de soda (también puedes usar cualquier otro tipo de bandeja o caja llana). Recuérdale a tu niño que escribimos de izquierda a derecha y luego demuéstraselo. Coloca uno de los dibujos de líneas al lado de la bandeja. Pídele a tu niño que arrastre su dedo por la “nieve” para hacer el mismo tipo de línea que hay en el papel. ¡También puede practicar a hacer letras en la “nieve”!
