These super-simple ideas show that what goes up must come down!
Start out by having your child jump. When they come down to the ground, ask them what happened. Gravity pulled them down! But does gravity work only on people? Will it pull down other things too?
Help your child build a ramp from blocks and the side of a cardboard box or from other household items. Roll a toy car down the ramp. The car rolls down from the top by itself, but how about from bottom up? No—it has to be pushed! That is because gravity is pulling it down toward the Earth.
Make a paper airplane together and test it out! How far can it fly? No matter how far it goes, it always lands somewhere. That’s because of gravity!
