Build a Bear Den
Materials: blanket, sheets, pillows, cushions, electric fan

In this activity, your child will build a winter den and test it to see if it would keep out the cold.
Tell your child that a bear’s den protects the bear from cold winter weather. Give them blankets, sheets, pillows, and cushions, and ask them to construct their own den. They can also incorporate furniture by draping sheets over tables and chairs.
Have your child get inside the den. Then point a fan in their direction. Can they feel the chilly winter “wind”? If so, how can they adjust the den to keep the wind out? Help your child find solutions, such as covering up holes or using different materials.
Extend the engineering challenge. Ask how they can make the den fit more “bears” in the den. Can they make it tall enough so they can stand in it?

Haz que tu niño entre a la osera. Entonces, apunta un abanico hacia esa dirección. ¿Puede sentir el “viento” de invierno? Si es así, ¿cómo puede ajustar la osera para que no le entre viento? Ayuda a tu niño a encontrar soluciones, como cubrir los agujeros o utilizar diferentes materiales.
Haz que la actividad de ingeniería sea todavía más difícil. Pregúntale cómo puede hacer que quepan más “osos” dentro de la osera. ¿Puede hacerla lo suficientemente alta como para que pueda ponerse de pie adentro?
