Penguin Walk
Materials: a small ball or soft toy to serve as a penguin “egg”
Materials: a small ball or soft toy to serve as a penguin “egg”
This activity builds coordination and gross motor skills as your child applies their new knowledge of penguin behavior!
After a penguin mom lays an egg, the penguin dad keeps it safe. He balances it on top of his feet!
Your child can pretend to be a penguin dad. Give your child a small ball or soft toy to balance on their feet. Don’t let it fall on the “ice.”
Can they walk across the floor with the egg?
Can they walk backward with the egg?
Can they keep their arms straight by their sides like penguins do?
When your child gets tired, you can pretend the egg has hatched! Mom comes back to take care of the baby penguin for a while. Dad can go eat and play!

Una vez la mamá pingüino pone un huevo, el papá pingüino lo protege. ¡Lo balancea sobre sus pies!
Tu niño puede imaginarse que es un papá pingüino. Dale a tu niño una bola pequeña o un juguete blando para que lo coloque sobre sus pies. No puede dejarlo caer al “hielo”.
¿Puede caminar por el piso con el huevo?
¿Puede caminar de espaldas con el huevo?
¿Puede mantener los brazos a cada lado y derechos como hacen los pingüinos?
Cuando tu niño se canse, pueden imaginarse que el polluelo rompe el cascarón. La mamá regresa para cuidar de la cría de pingüino por un rato. ¡Papá puede ir a comer y jugar!
