Craft Activity
Make a Paper Plate Snake
Materials: paper plate, markers or crayons, paper, scissors, thread or string, clear tape or glue

Your child will develop fine-motor skills and imagination while creating a snake they can use to learn about reptiles and make up stories.
Give your child a paper plate and markers. Let your child color all over the plate. It can be green like a garden snake or any colors they like.
When the plate is decorated, use the scissors to cut the plate in an unbroken spiral that will look like a curled snake.
Start by cutting about an inch into the plate. Then cut around the rim, making sure not to cut the rim of the plate off. Keep cutting around in a spiral. The center will be the snake’s head.
Use the piece of paper to cut shapes for the snake’s tongue and eyes. Have your child attach them to the snake’s head with tape or glue.
If you’d like, poke a small hole through the snake’s head. Put a string or thread through and tie it in a loop. Your child can hold the end of the thread or string and make the snake dance—or have it pretend to eat the wash!

Tu niño o niña desarrollará su imaginación y destrezas motrices finas mientras crea una serpiente que puede usar para aprender sobre los reptiles e inventarse historias.
Dale a tu niño un plato de papel y marcadores. Deja que tu niño coloree todo el plato. Puede ser verde, como una serpiente de jardín, o cualquier otro color que quiera.
Una vez el plato esté decorado, utiliza las tijeras para recortar en espiral el plato, sin que se rompa, para que parezca una serpiente enrollada.
Comienza por cortar unas dos pulgadas hacia el interior del plato. Entonces, corta el borde, asegurándote de que no se desprenda. Sigue cortando alrededor en espiral. El centro será la cabeza de la serpiente.
Utiliza el pedazo de papel para recortar los ojos y la lengua de la serpiente. Haz que tu niño los pegue a la cabeza de la serpiente con cinta adhesiva o pegamento.
