Writing Activity

My Book Review

Materials: paper, pencil

This activity lets your child give their opinion on their latest read.

Tell your child that many people choose what books they will read based on how people have reviewed it. When you review something, you give your opinion on it.

Ask your child to think about a book they’ve read recently. Talk to your child about the book. Was the book fiction (made-up) or was it non-fiction (not made-up)? Would they recommend the book, or tell someone else to read it? Why or why not?

Then have your child write their review! Remind them to include the name of the book and the author. Encourage them to explain why they liked the book or didn’t like it. When they’re done writing, they can add a smiley face if they liked the book or a frowny face if they didn’t!
